My journey into jewelry design and fabrication began with the discovery of ancient and astonishing beach stones on the Delaware Bay beaches. Each stone is unique in its shape, earth toned hues, textures, and patterns reminiscent of paintings and landscapes. These stones are my inspiration to build upon. Fabricating wearable art allows me to present the beauty of a stone for others to discover and enjoy.
Copper, silver and brass are my metals of choice. I utilize techniques and equipment for metalsmithing, enamelling, and lapidary. Each piece gives me the opportunity to explore the characteristics of the stone and build the metal structure to compliment. The vocabulary of my metalwork is inspired by the debris that has washed ashore. This debris while originally man made is reworked by the earth, tumbled, crushed, and shaped anew.
Jewelry design and fabrication has given me the opportunity to enter a life long journey of learning and discovery which enhances my personal peace and joy of life.
